American stand-up comedy actor Bob Newhart had passed away on Thursday, July 18, at the age of 94.

In a post on Bob’s official Facebook page, his family shared the sad news stating the comedian was surrounded by them when he died.

“Our father passed away this morning surrounded by all our family. We feel blessed that he is reunited with our mom and all of his friends waiting for him. Thank you for all of your well wishes. He was deeply loved by all, but especially by his children and grandchildren,” the post read.

On the other hand, Bob’s publicist, Jerry Digney, said in a statement that the comedy legend died at his home in Los Angeles after a series of his short illnesses.

Born September 5, 1929, Bob was an accountant before trying his luck in the world of comedy for a year. He was 31 at that time when he signed with Warner Bros. Records and had his “The Button-Down Mind of Bob Newhart”, the music industry’s first ever comedy album to hit the top of the sales chart.

The said album also earned Bob his Grammys for Best New Artist and Best Album awards.

Bob is also known for his appearances on hit TV series “The Big Bang Theory” and for his Papa Elf role in the film “Elf”.
