Passengers told to be patient as Quiboloy supporters hold picket near Davao Airport

Some members of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) held a rally outside the Davao International Airport (DIA) on Sunday evening in support of their fugitive leader Apollo Quiboloy, which made going to the airport slightly inconvenient for several passengers.

According to a livestream broadcast of GMA Integrated News, air travelers were advised to be more patient as security measures tightened within the airport premises due to the lightning rally.

The KOJC devotees could be heard yelling at megaphones to express their grievances over the manhunt launched by the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Davao City to arrest the embattled pastor.

A reporter on the scene said only passengers with scheduled flights were being allowed entry to the DIA. All vehicles were prohibited from entering and exiting the airport, forcing passengers to walk with their luggage.

Law enforcement authorities have been staking out at the KOJC compound in Davao City, which is located near the airport, to enforce the warrant of arrest against Quiboloy. He has been charged of several crimes.

At about 09:28 p.m., the KOJC members reportedly left and moved near their compound, as some of the gates at the DIA were slowly reopened. An airport security personnel assured no flights were affected because of the incident.

DIA general manager Rex Obcena explained that they had to partially close some of the gates at the airport to control the situation after the KOJC protesters spilled over near the area.

According to a report by MindaNews, traffic along the Carlos P. Garcia Highway in the vicinity of the KOJC compound and the DIA remains at a standstill as protesters and policemen crowd the thoroughfare.
