GMA Integrated News’ weekend newscast 24 Oras Weekend marks its 15th anniversary this month, maintaining its position as a leading source of news and information for Filipinos in the country and abroad.

Airing Saturdays and Sundays at 5:30 p.m., the program is anchored by broadcast journalists Pia Arcangel and Ivan Mayrina, with Nelson Canlas handling its entertainment segment “Chika Minute.”

Senior vice president and head of GMA Integrated News, Regional TV, and Synergy Oliver Victor B. Amoroso said the newscast remains committed to delivering timely news updates.

“Major events occur not only during the weekdays but also over the weekends. As I often remind the producers of 24 Oras Weekend, ‘Sunday is the new Monday.’ This underscores our commitment to continuous news coverage,” Amoroso said.

The show topped weekend news rankings in 2024, following its weekday counterpart 24 Oras as the highest-rated news program in the country, according to Nielsen TV Audience Measurement data. From January to December 2024, 24 Oras Weekend recorded a combined GMA/GTV/Pinoy Hits people rating of 6.7 percent in Total Philippines, outperforming TV5’s Frontline Pilipinas Weekend (1.8 percent) and ABS-CBN’s TV Patrol Weekend (1.1 percent).

The program offers a mix of news and features, including segments on travel, finance, health, and entertainment. “Saan Tayo” highlights destinations across the country, “Good Vibes” shares uplifting stories, and “Weekend Do This” suggests activities for viewers’ leisure time. Other segments provide financial advice, pet care tips, and consumer insights.

Arcangel said viewers can expect the show to continue its coverage while expanding lifestyle segments.

“We have been providing balanced and truthful news for the past 15 years, and we will continue delivering informative and engaging stories,” she said.

Mayrina added that the program will adapt to evolving platforms to reach wider audiences, while Canlas noted that the experience has strengthened his passion for entertainment reporting.

24 Oras Weekend airs every Saturday and Sunday on GMA, with simulcasts on GTV and Pinoy Hits.
