‘The Last of Us’ season 2 arrives in April with new, returning cast

At Sony’s press conference at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Neil Druckmann, co-creator, writer, and executive producer of The Last of Us, announced that the seven-episode second season of HBO’s Emmy-winning drama will debut this April on HBO and stream on Max.

Set five years after the events of the first season, Joel and Ellie face new conflicts in a world more dangerous and unpredictable than before.

The returning cast includes Pedro Pascal as Joel, Bella Ramsey as Ellie, Gabriel Luna as Tommy, and Rutina Wesley as Maria. New cast members include Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Isabela Merced as Dina, Young Mazino as Jesse, Ariela Barer as Mel, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, Spencer Lord as Owen, Danny Ramirez as Manny, and Jeffrey Wright as Isaac. Catherine O’Hara will also guest star.

Based on the popular video game franchise from Naughty Dog, The Last of Us is written and executive produced by Craig Mazin and Druckmann. The series is a co-production with Sony Pictures Television and features executive producers Carolyn Strauss, Jacqueline Lesko, Cecil O’Connor, Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan, and Evan Wells, with co-executive producer Halley Gross.
