GMA Public Affairs has announced an ambitious lineup of programming and projects as it marks the network’s 75th year in 2025, featuring the return of hit series, new public service initiatives, and groundbreaking cinematic releases.
Primetime offerings
Ruru Madrid reprises his role as Lolong in Lolong: Bayani ng Bayan, the follow-up to 2022’s most-watched television series. The action-packed drama, premiering on Jan. 20, follows Lolong as he navigates personal and communal challenges, including a quest to retrieve the powerful Ubtao gem.

Meanwhile, the second season of MAKA brings the talented cast, led by Zephanie and Romnick Sarmenta, to a new school setting, exploring deeper themes of love and family. International collaboration also enters the primetime lineup with Beauty Empire, a drama set in the high-stakes world of the beauty industry.
Public service projects
Ahead of the 2025 elections, GMA Public Affairs and GMA Integrated News will launch Tanong ng Bayan: The Senatorial Face Off, moderated by seasoned journalist Jessica Soho. The special aims to spotlight candidates’ stances on pressing national issues.
Jessica Soho, celebrating 40 years in journalism, will also be honored with an online archive of her groundbreaking reports and a special feature airing in February.
Matteo Guidicelli leads Philippine Defenders, a March 2025 series highlighting the efforts of the country’s armed forces. Guidicelli, a Philippine Army reservist, joins missions showcasing the work of soldiers protecting the nation’s sovereignty.
Cinematic ventures
Fresh from its MMFF entry Green Bones, GMA Public Affairs is set to release two new films for GMA Pictures in the first half of 2025. This time, the category is horror: KMJS’ Gabi ng Lagim makes its big screen debut, and P77 starring Barbie Forteza and Euwenn Mikaell arrives in theatres in the summer of 2025.
Gabi ng Lagim takes inspiration from chilling real-life accounts to craft three unforgettable tales of horror and redemption. And P77, set in a luxurious yet otherworldly penthouse, discusses the realities of urban housing while promising a mind-bending cinematic experience.
In keeping with the spirit of Lost Sabungeros in 2024, a new film brings focus toward justice in the animated feature 58th. The film examines the Maguindanao Massacre fifteen years on and sheds light on the story of Reynaldo Momay, the 58th victim whose body was never found.
