P-pop sensation SB19 is dancing in the moonlight—literally, as their music will soon be archived on the moon as part of the prestigious Lunar Codex project, a global cultural initiative that preserves artistic works for posterity.
In a report by GMA News, SB19 will join an elite group of artists and creatives whose works are being included in the Lunar Codex, which uses NASA’s Artemis program and its Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS) partners to deliver these archives to the lunar surface.
Alongside SB19, the Filipino drama series Pulang Araw—featuring stars Barbie Forteza, Sanya Lopez, David Licauco, Alden Richards, and Dennis Trillo—will also be included.
“Individual works are copyright by their respective creators, editors, publishers, or owners, and all rights as appropriate remain with them, whether or not a notice appears adjacent to the work,” the website said.
SB19’s inclusion is part of a growing roster of Filipino artists represented in the Lunar Codex. Last year, the project archived music from Moira Dela Torre, BINI, BGYO, Apo Hiking Society, Gary Valenciano, Ryan Cayabyab, and others. These contributions highlight the global impact and recognition of Filipino talent in music and the arts.
The Lunar Codex is scheduled to launch in 2025. By sending these archives to the moon, the project aims to preserve human creativity for future generations—both on Earth and beyond.
