Lovi Poe launches makeup line to celebrate uniqueness
“Beauty is from within.” For Lovi Poe, this is how she defines beauty, which also reflects her journey as a multi-faceted actress.
“When I see someone radiating happiness, that’s what I find beautiful,” said Lovi.
In a recent media conference, the actress shared her thoughts on beauty as she recalled her early experiences in the entertainment industry, where the pressure to conform to conventional beauty standards affected her.
“When I entered the industry, I received a lot of flack for being too dark. And, you know, that made me feel so unpretty. Imagine my first series, where to be called beautiful, they wanted to lighten my skin, paint over it, and make me use light foundation,” she said.
As she faced the pressures of fame, she began to understand that true beauty comes from confidence and learned to embrace her own unique features. Yet, she admitted that it wasn’t always easy.
“It was very gradual. Little by little. Even to this day, I have my moments when I need to snap back to reality. Especially with social media and all the beauty standards we see every day, you have to remind yourself to embrace your unique self,” the actress explained.
This realization inspired her to dream of launching a makeup line. Recently, Lovi took a bold step by introducing Love, You by Lovi, which encourages people to remember that everyone has their own beauty and uniqueness.
“And that’s why we came up with Love, You. Once you bring it out from your makeup kit, I hope it serves as a reminder. You have to remind yourself that you’re beautiful for who you are,” she continued.
“It’s a love letter to yourself. No matter what you’re going through, it’s a reminder in so many instances, in so many moments,” added Lovi.
Now that she has officially launched Love, You by Lovi, she reflected on the challenge of narrowing down the options for her line, aiming for inclusivity so that everyone feels represented and beautiful through her makeup essentials.
“It was a process—back and forth. We had a lot of products to test. It was a long journey, but with the help of the Ready, Set, Glow team, we finally found the right ones. It was hard to choose because there were so many beautiful options, but you have to pick the best ones that truly stand out. What I love about this is that it’s very inclusive of all skin tones,” she explained.
Love, You by Lovi includes five products: Me, Myself, and I Lippie, Love and Light Contour and Highlighter Stick, Skin Poetry Scented Body Shimmer, Statement Setter Brow Trio, and Heart in Bloom Cream & Powder Blush Duo.
Promoting inclusivity in her latest venture, Lovi shared with Manila Standard Lifestyle her belief that makeup is for everyone, regardless of gender and skin color.
“Makeup is not just a product, and it’s not made for one type of person. It’s made for everybody. I feel like it’s a form of self-expression,” said Lovi.
