This is how actor JM De Guzman described his latest film, Guilty Pleasure, in which he stars alongside actress Lovi Poe and fellow actor Jameson Blake, during its premiere night on Oct. 15 at SM North EDSA – The Block.
During the screening, the audience experienced how a sexy film can blend well with legal drama. Watching the film allowed them to explore these themes, drawing them into the story. As the film unfolds, viewers can relate to each character and see how the story progresses from one scene to another.

Love. The film opens with a scene featuring sexy background music as a woman wearing sultry lingerie walks toward a blindfolded man on his knees. At first glance, it seems like a romantic moment. However, you soon realize that these two characters are Lovi and JM playing the roles of lawyers Alexis and Adam, respectively. Of course, being a sexy film, it includes many sensual scenes. But as the movie unfolds, it sparks conversations about the complexities of love and the boundaries that should be established between a couple.
Passion. Lovi’s successful portrayal of Attorney Alexis Miranda is something the audience will love to see, making them look forward to scenes where she excels in every case inside the courtroom.
The film also shows how Lovi perfectly delivers her lines as a professional lawyer, a lover to both JM and Jameson’s respective characters, a daughter, and a woman who finally wants to speak and stand up for herself. Watching Lovi on the big screen, confidently reciting legal terms alongside her co-actors, is simply impeccable. There’s something about Lovi in this film—her sexiness, her beauty, her confidence—we can’t pinpoint it, but Lovi wouldn’t be called the “Supreme Actress” for nothing.
Betrayal. Guilty Pleasure illustrates how betrayal comes in various forms. JM’s character exemplifies betrayal through his unfaithfulness and dishonesty, which not only damages his relationships but also undermines trust. Meanwhile, Alexis’ decision to turn a blind eye to the truth to defend her client represents a different form of betrayal, as it compromises her integrity and the pursuit of justice.
Justice. Throughout the film, viewers look for the connection between the opening scene and the entire story. They’ll understand why and how Lovi pursues justice in the film. For whom? Watch it.
