278 newly promoted AFP personnel await CA nod—Pimentel

The Commission on Appointments (CA) has to act on the appointment papers for 278 newly promoted senior officers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), according to CA Assistant Minority Leader and Surigao del Sur Rep. Johnny Pimentel.

“We have a new batch of senior military officials awaiting confirmation from the CA. They are led by Maj. Gen. Rommel Roldan, who has been promoted to the rank of lieutenant general,” Pimentel said. Roldan is the AFP Deputy Chief of Staff for Personnel.

In a news release on Sunday, Pimentel said 30 other newly promoted generals and flag officers are also pending CA confirmation, including the following:

  • Maj. Generals Edwin Amadar, Benedict Balaba, Donald Gumiran, Francisco Lorenzo Jr., Michael Samson and Elmer Suderio;
  • Rear Admiral Karl Decapia; and  Brigadier Generals Onorlie Brillantes, Ricky Bunayog, Edgar Catu, Bayani Curaming, Patrick de Villa, Billy Dela Rosa, Danilo Dupiag, Romell Allan Genete, Dean Mark Mamaril, Vicente Naldoza Jr., Eugenio Julio Osias IV, Nhel Richard Patricio, Nestor Pedro, Melencio Ragudo, Erwin Salibad and Enrico Yuzon;
  • Commodores Sergio Bartolome, Zosimo Bolaños Jr., Joselito De Guzman, Lued Lincuna, Jeff Rene Nadugo, Edwin Nera and Charles Merric Villanueva.

The list of military appointees awaiting CA confirmation also includes 202 new colonels and 45 new naval captains, Pimentel noted.

“The public is encouraged to submit any information, written reports, or sworn/notarized complaints or oppositions against any of the appointees to the CA Secretariat,” he added.
