KYLE Raphael is a singer-songwriter to watch out for. While another version of the track “Paraluman” went viral during the pandemic, Kyle’s own original version also performed well.
His skillful songwriting can be credited for this success, as he was the Himig Handog big winner in 2018.
The Davao-native artist returns with a new single titled “Hanggang Tingin,” which captures the same good vibes as “Paraluman.” Kyle reveals that he wrote “Hanggang Tingin” in 2020, inspired by a close female friend whom he was attracted to. However, he values their genuine friendship too much to risk a romantic relationship, so he expresses his feelings through the song instead.
“Hanggang Tingin” starts as a gentle ballad and transitions into a mid-tempo track, as the singer yearns to confess his true emotions. Those familiar with Kyle’s “Paraluman” will notice similarities, both obvious and subtle. However, anyone who takes the time to listen will agree that Kyle knows how to deliver a captivating tune.
Kyle shares that he didn’t force himself to conform to current trends. He prefers to grow as an artist and express himself authentically at the right time, especially with this song. The producer, Axel Fernandez (known for his work with Arthur Nery), understood the concept Kyle aimed for, making “Hanggang Tingin” a genuine reflection of the artist’s identity and current emotions.
The minimalist music arrangement of “Hanggang Tingin” complements the theme of yearning for someone while holding back, allowing the focus to be on Kyle’s lyrics, melodies, and his delivery. Although the song may sound simple, Kyle admits he faced a challenge in creating a catchy hook for it.
Kyle’s goal as a music act is not about becoming a big star, but rather connecting with listeners through his songs. He hopes that his music can provide solace and be like a close friend during difficult times for those who resonate with it.
