Advocacy group ICanServe launched The Pink Room, a themed gallery aimed at bringing together art and fashion to generate awareness for the detection and treatment of breast cancer, recently at the Brittany Hotel in Bonifacio Global City.
ICanServe Chairman Crisann Celdran, Founding President Kara Magsanoc-Alikpala, and AllValue President Camille Villar inaugurated The Pink Room located on the second level of Brittany Hotel BGC.
“It takes a lot of courage for women who have breast cancer to face the battle. But with support groups such as ICanServe Foundation, many patients are able to get help to navigate the challenges of living with breast cancer. And this goes for both men and women because this is not exclusive for women,” Villar said.
“I am also happy that we can help ICanServe in bringing to life this partnership, especially for a cause that is dear to my advocacies,” added Villar, who as a lawmaker filed a measure promoting breast cancer’s early detection and prevention.
Villar said she did not think twice in pushing for breast cancer awareness, noting that it is the third most fatal-type cancer afflicting Filipinos, next to lung and liver cancer.
The Pink Room: A gallery for good
With a mind to merging fashion and art as a force for good, The Pink Room Gallery will be at Brittany Hotel BGC until September14.
A unique gallery that forges a connection between sneaker culture and local artisanship, The Pink Room features work from 25 renowned Filipino artists such as National Artist Benedicto “Bencab” Cabrera, Elmer Borlongan, Carlo Calma, and Lilianna Manahan, among others. Each artist has transformed a pair of Ultra White Nike Air Force 1 shoes into a unique piece of art. The pairs will be auctioned off on September 14, with proceeds going toward ICanServe’s breast cancer initiatives.
In addition to the gallery, Brittany Hotel’s Smiles for Miles activity was also launched, which aims to contribute even further to the cause of ICanServe. Running in parallel to the event, well-meaning fitness buffs can add to a mileage counter through walking and running, with their effort to be part of the charitable donation to ICanServe.
