Clouds, rains expected due to amihan, ITCZ, shear line—PAGASA

The Philippines is facing varied weather conditions again this Monday, with the northeast monsoon or ‘amihan,’ intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), and shear line bringing rains across the country, according to the state weather bureau.

Based on its 4:00 a.m. weather bulletin, PAGASA said provinces in Cagayan Valley and the Cordillera Administrative Region will experience cloudy skies with moderate to heavy rains caused by the northeast monsoon.

Areas in Bicol, Marinduque, Oriental Mindoro, Quezon, and Aurora will have scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms due to the shear line.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon may expect partly cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

Residents are cautioned about potential flash floods and landslides from the rains caused by existing weather disturbances.

Meanwhile, the ITCZ affects weather conditions across Eastern Visayas, Caraga, and the Davao Region, bringing cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms.

Some communities are at risk of flash floods and landslides during periods of heavy rains.

The rest of Visayas and Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated thunderstorms.

While rainfall may be localized, PAGASA warned residents to stay cautious, as severe thunderstorms could still trigger flooding.

No significant impact, however, are expected in Ilocos Region and Central Luzon where amihan-induced isolated rains with partly cloudy skies prevail.

Authorities urge the public to remain alert and monitor updates, especially in areas prone to flooding and landslides.
