Presidential daughter and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte on Sunday said her meeting with presidential candidate Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. in Cebu focused on how her local party Hugpong ng Pagbabago can help him in the Davao region.

“What we talked about for now is how the HNP in Davao can help Bongbong Marcos' bid for the presidency,” Duterte said in Visayan when interviewed by reporters in Cebu.

“I do not have plans to run for president of the country,” she added.

However, Sara, daughter of President Rodrigo Duterte, declined to offer more details of their meeting in Cebu City to celebrate the birthday of Tingog Party-list Rep. Yedda Marie Romualdez.

There has been speculation that the younger Duterte would be Marcos's running mate, but both sides have been silent on the possibility.

Responding to the query of a possible Marcos-Duterte tandem, she said:

“You can ask him (Marcos) since he is the one who is a candidate for a national position.”

Marcos filed his certificate of candidacy for president on Oct. 6, after taking his oath as a member of the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas, which is allied with the Duterte administration.

On Sept. 1, the PFP endorsed Marcos for the 2022 presidential race.

Marcos earlier said the PFP considered President Rodrigo Duterte as its vice-presidential candidate but changed plans when the President announced that he will be retiring from politics.

The camp of the President's daughter on Saturday shared on social media photos of her meeting with the former senator and his sister, Senator Imee Marcos, in Cebu City.

She said they attended the birthday celebration of Rep. Yedda Marie Romualdez, wife of House Majority Leader Martin Romualdez, a cousin of the Marcoses.

The presence of Duterte-Carpio in Cebu triggered a new wave of speculation that she could be vying for the country’s most powerful position in 2022.

Senator Ronald "Bato” Dela Rosa said he remains the standard bearer of the Cusi faction of the PDP-Laban only until Nov. 15, the day set by the Comelec as the last day for the substitution of candidates.

Dela Rosa said he is ready to withdraw his candidacy if the Davao mayor decides to run for President.

Before meeting the Davao mayor, Marcos also met with Cebu Gov. Gwen Garcia.

Among the contenders for president, aside from Marcos, are Vice President Leni Robredo, Senators Panfilo Lacson, Manny Pacquiao and Dela Rosa, and Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso.

Also on Sunday, the Marcos camp released a statement saying Public Asia, a campaign management, public relations, and lobbying company, said he was leading in its latest survey of presidential aspirants. No data on the sampling method or margin of error was provided.

In PUBLiCUS’ Pahayag survey, Marcos was way ahead of the other presidential hopefuls as more voters showed an overwhelming preference for him in key voting areas. (See full story online at manilastandard.net)

In the National Capital Region, Marcos cornered more than 40% of the votes, while in North and Central Luzon, he got a whopping 55.7%. In South Luzon, he obtained 38.2%, while in the Visayas, he registered 44.7%. Topping such an enormous display of support, Marcos cornered 62.5% voter preference in Mindanao.

Marcos, who is offering a unifying brand of governance once elected, got a total presidential preference vote of 49.3% followed by Robredo with 21.3%, Domagoso with 8.8%, Lacson with 2.9%, and Pacquiao with 2.8%.

In the same way, Marcos also dominated the Kalye Surveys conducted by different vloggers in various parts of Metro Manila and the provinces of Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon from October 1 to 11.

Of the total 2,137 respondents, 1,307 expressed their preference for Marcos. Moreno came a distant second, with 345; while Robredo placed third with 231. The results for the four others were: Pacquiao, 125; Lacson, 89; and Bato Dela Rosa, 23.

Sara Duterte got 17 in the Kalye Surveys, but she was no longer included in the list for the Pahayag survey since she has declared she will not be running for President in the 2022 polls and instead vie for reelection.

Based on the results of the Pahayag survey and the Kalye Survey, a “real time, real man” street survey, Marcos would be a runaway winner in the presidential derby if the elections were held on those survey dates.
