The Department of Agrarian Reform has provided farmers from Rizal province with multivitamins and ready-to-use supplementary food to boost their immune system during the Enhanced Community Quarantine in the fight against coronavirus disease 19 (COVID-19).
Secretary John Castriciones instructed Undersecretary Virginia Orogo to look after the welfare of the farmers belonging to 29 agrarian cooperatives from Rizal’s Jalajala, Tanay, Antipolo, Pililla, Rodriguez and Pinugay.
The agency partnered with the Lions Club of Marikina District 301 as donor and the Philippine Coast Guard to help deliver the goods.
Orogo recently turned over 35 boxes containing 500 bottles of multivitamins and 35 boxes of Plumy Sup (RUSF) to provincial agrarian reform officer Saturnino Bello.
At least 3,771 farmer-members would benefit from the provision.
“To be specific, 2,122 agrarian reform beneficiaries (RBs) and 1,649 non-ARBs will receive these donations. We also shared these to 78 employees of DAR-Rizal,” Bello said.
