Jomar Ang, the son of billionaire tycoon Ramon S. Ang, passed away over the weekend, the family announced.

In a statement, the elder Ang—president and chief operating officer of diversified conglomerate San Miguel Corp.—and his wife Tessie said Jomar passed on Saturday, April 11.

The family did not elaborate on the details of his passing.

“Jomar was a dutiful, loving, and kind-hearted son, brother, and a loyal and dedicated friend to many. He was a source of great joy to us and we are truly blessed to have had his love and presence in our lives. We know in our hearts that he is in a much better place now,” the Angs said.

“It has been a painful experience, but we have been comforted by the expressions of love and sympathy sent to us in many ways,” their statement read.

“We appreciate all the kind thoughts and prayers. Thank you for being with us during this difficult time,” it added.

The younger Ang was admitted to the St. Luke’s Medical Center in January when he was said to be in critical condition.

The family said a private service to celebrate Jomar’s life was conducted on Sunday, April 12.

“While we know that many of you who kept him in your thoughts would have wanted to attend his funeral, we decided it was best to have a private service to celebrate his life on Easter Sunday,” they said.
