Veteran actor Leo Martinez said social media is the future with the continuous decline of viewers of traditional modes such as movies and television shows.
He also underscored the need to educate content creators and jumpstart the development of the audio-visual domain of the creative industry.
“I think we can definitely compete in the creative industry because Filipinos are naturally creative. It also suits us because it is very simple to do and understand… Creativity is feeling, not thinking,” said Martinez.
Martinez is set to conduct an online content creation class to take place from February 3-7 in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry Creative Industries Development Office.
Formerly known as “LikhaSanay,” this capacity-building project will give scholars an avenue to explore storytelling, digital content creation, and creative expression, culminating in a special showcase of their work.
Martinez, who is also the director general of the Film Academy of the Philippines, stressed that he envisions his “Doon Po Sa Amin” (DPSA) advocacy to promote what is “good, beautiful, and noble” in the country.
