The Department of Health (DOH) issued a “Code White” alert across the country, which will remain in effect until November 2, 2024.
According to the health agency, the Code White alert signals all general and orthopedic surgeons, anesthesiologists, internists, operating room nurses, ophthalmologists, and otorhinolaryngologists to be prepared to assist at any time in case of an emergency.
Additionally, hospital Operations Centers (OPCEN) are on standby, coordinating with the regional center offices of the department.
The DOH advises the public to plan their cemetery visits during off-peak hours to avoid crowds. The health agency also recommends bringing water, food, first aid supplies, and umbrellas.
“Keep hydrated, stay away from extreme heat, sanitize your hands, and be alert to any symptoms of heat stroke such as dizziness and fainting,” DOH advised.
Meanwhile, motorists are advised to check their vehicles’ conditions using the BLOWBAGSET method (Battery, Lights, Oil, Water, Brakes, Air, Gas, Self, Engine, Tools). Driving under the influence of alcohol or while fatigued is also discouraged.
