President Marcos led the inauguration on Tuesday of the 20-storey Philippine Children’s Medical Center (PCMC) in Quezon City, highlighting the country’s observance of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

The 500-bed PCMC, also referred to as Legacy Tower, boasts cutting-edge technology to meet the growing healthcare needs of the country’s pediatric population.

It is also equipped with updated diagnostic modalities, such as a 3 Tesla MRI, a 128-slice CT scan, and a Dynamic Digital Radiography (DR) X-ray, which will enhance the precision and speed of pediatric diagnostics.

The tower will offer programs and training for healthcare professionals nationwide and serve as a center for clinical research and training. Key features of the facility include the PCMC Eskwelahan Munti (a special education school), a dormitory for patient families and healthcare workers, and a Teen Republic Occupational Promotion Center.

“This state-of-the-art facility stands as a testament to our commitment to addressing the healthcare needs of our children, particularly those battling childhood cancer. With the cutting-edge technology and comprehensive services housed within these walls, we are not only improving treatment outcomes but also ensuring that every child, regardless of circumstance, has access to world-class care. This is a crucial step forward in our mission to save lives and foster a healthier future for the Filipino youth towards our journey to “Bagong Pilipinas kung saan Bawat Buhay Mahalaga,” Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa said.
