President Marcos named Imelda Papin as an acting member of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) Board of Directors.
The Presidential Communications Office posted on its Facebook account that President Marcos swore in Papin at Malacañang Palace on Tuesday.
“President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. led the oath-taking of Ms. Imelda Papin as the Acting Member of the Board of Directors of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office today, June 4, 2024.,” PCO announced through Facebook.
Papin previously served as vice governor of Camarines Sur. She is also known as a long-time supporter of the Marcos family.
In 2023, she produced a biographical film, which focused on her time in Hawaii to accompany the late former President Ferdinand Marcos, Sr. and his wife and namesake Imelda during their exile after the People Power Revolution.
The film had a working title “Loyalista: The Untold Story of Imelda Papin” but was later retitled to “Imelda Papin: The Untold Story.” It starred Claudine Baretto in the title role and was released on November 29, 2023, according to information published in Wikipedia.
In Filipino pop culture, Papin was nicknamed the “Sentimental Songstress” and “Jukebox Queen.” She is the voice behind Tagalog hit songs “Bakit? (alternatively titled Kung Liligaya Ka sa Piling ng Iba)” and “Isang Linggong Pag-ibig.”
Last week, President Marcos appointed retired Marikina Regional Trial Court (RTC) Judge Felix Reyes as the new PCSO’s chairman.
