QUEZON City Mayor Joy Belmonte on Friday reminded the public, particularly the candidates to follow the rules and avoid defacing the city’s beauty with their political banners and tarpaulins.
“As public servants and those who want to enter the government, we have to follow the policies of the government. Let’s respect the beauty of Quezon City and avoid spreading our political and advertising paraphernalia,” she said.
Belmonte cited City Ordinance No. SP-2021 of 2010 mandating that any political propaganda in Quezon City must only be displayed or posted in common areas designated by the Commission on Elections.
The measure prohibits any election materials to be pasted on electric posts, public utilities and facilities such as street signage, traffic lights, signal posts, bridges and overpasses.
Among the prohibited items are streamers, tarpaulins, tin plates, stickers, pamphlets, decals, printed notices, signboards, billboards and other advertising paraphernalia.
Each barangay shall have a Comelec-designated poster area that should not affect any electric post, tree and government wall or building.
