#ANONGBALITA Pacquiao’s son sells his shoes for P850,000

Michael Pacquiao has sold a pair of his father Manny’s shoes to popular vlogger Boss Toyo for P850,000 – after asking as much as P3.8 million for both the shoes and a pair of gloves gifted to the legendary boxer and ex-senator by the World Boxing Council.

Boss Toyo, a rap artist whose real name is Jayson Luzadas, has hooked Filipinos with his vlog series “Pinoy Pawnstars”, where he buys items owned by celebrities and other prominent personalities.

In the latest episode of his show on YouTube, which Boss Toyo and his wife consider to be their most memorable so far, Michael Pacquiao walked in with the Air Max 90 shoes that Nike made just for the boxer, ABS-CBN Online reported.

According to Michael, his dad wore the one-of-a-kind pair during weigh-ins with Floyd Mayweather Jr., as well as during promotions, and post-fight interviews after he was proclaimed an 8-division champion.

The second item was a case containing green and gold boxing gloves which, Michael shared, was a gift to the “Pacman” by the WBC. He said his mom Jinkee gave the items to him as they had no more space for them at home.

Michael initially offered to sell his father’s shoes for P3 million and valued the gloves at P800,000. The amount dropped to P2 million after an exchange with Boss Toyo, who then sought the advice of sneaker expert Big Boy Cheng.

In their video call, also shown in the vlog, Big Boy Cheng placed a value of $10,000 or around P550,000 on Pacquiao’s shoes. Acknowledging that it could easily double in value when put up for auction abroad, Boss Toyo said he was willing to buy the shoes for more than P550,000, but not for P3 million.

This prompted Michael to give a “last price” of P1.8 million for both the shoes and the gloves. As he continued with the negotiations, Boss Toyo said he would pass on the gloves as it “did not have much of a story,” focusing instead on the special Nike shoes.

After several exchanges — which at one point involved a call with Jinkee Pacquiao – Michael and Boss Toyo settled at P850,000. The son later admitted that he was hoping to sell his dad’s shoes for at least P1 million.

“Pero okay naman, it’s good for the museum ni Boss Toyo para makatulong din,” he said.
