#ANONGBALITA: Padilla sorry for wife’s IV drip session but Binay says investigation to continue

After initially laughing off his wife’s IV drip session inside his Senate office last week, Senator Robin Padilla on Monday apologized to his colleagues and Upper Chamber officials over the issue.

Padilla formally apologized to Dr. Renato Sison, director of the Senate’s Medical and Dental Bureau and Roberto Ancan, the Senate sergeant-at-arms, days after his wife, actress Mariel Padilla, flaunted her IV drip session at the Senate in a now-deleted Instagram post.

“I would never think of violating the Senate’s security protocols, much less disrespecting our institution,” the senator said in his letter to Ancan.

“I wish to emphasize that my wife had no intention of disregarding the rules and regulations of the Senate Medical Bureau…Rest assured this will not happen again ,” he said in his letter to Sison.

But Senator Nancy Binay, chairperson of the Senate ethics committee, said she will push through with the probe even as Senators Francis Tolentino and Bong Revilla said Padilla’s apology should be sufficient.
