PBBM declares March 20 a holiday

Malacañang on Thursday said President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. declared March 20 a regular holiday nationwide in observance of Eid’l Fitr, the festival marking the end of Ramadan.

According to Presidential Communication Office Undersecretary Claire Castro, the declaration was made as Mr. Marcos attended the Grand Iftar at Malacañang, joining members of the Muslim community and leaders from across the country.

The observance of Eid’l Fitr signals the conclusion of Ramadan, a month of fasting, prayer, and spiritual reflection.

Across the country, Muslim communities will celebrate with prayers, charitable giving, family gatherings, and communal meals.

Malacañang emphasized that the holiday is part of the government’s efforts to recognize and honor the diverse religious and cultural practices of Filipinos.

The declaration follows a tradition of officially recognizing Eid’l Fitr as a national holiday in the Philippines, ensuring that Muslims can freely observe the festival without work or school obligations.
