The United States Embassy in the Philippines notified American citizens on Monday about day-long protests called the “Trillion Peso March” set for February 25 in Quezon City, advising travelers to be cautious around large crowds and to heed local authorities’ instructions.
In an advisory, the embassy highlighted expected heavy traffic, public transportation disruptions, and increased security in key areas throughout the day.
“The primary gathering sites are expected to be the EDSA Shrine at the intersection of EDSA and Ortigas Avenue, the People Power Monument on White Plains Avenue, and the Eton Centris complex at the corner of EDSA and Quezon Avenue,” the advisory read.
“U.S. citizens should anticipate significant traffic congestion, public transport disruptions, and a heavy security presence in these areas throughout the day,” it added.
The embassy warned that participating in protests or demonstrations might violate their immigration status.
U.S. citizens are also advised to monitor local media and government announcements for updates on possible traffic disruptions and rerouting plans, as heavy congestion and road closures are anticipated near protest sites.
The Trillion Peso March coincides with the 40th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution and follows large anti-corruption protests held on September 21 and November 30, 2025.
Reports indicate that a total of 13,448 Philippine National Police officers and 500 Philippine Coast Guard personnel will be deployed across Manila to ensure peaceful activities.
