The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said it reduced electricity consumption by 12,840 kilowatt-hours (kWh), cutting power use by 11.31 percent following the implementation of energy conservation measures in offices nationwide.
DOLE said the reduction was achieved through a compressed workweek scheme and other energy-saving practices adopted in support of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive for government agencies to reduce fuel and electricity consumption by at least 10 percent under Presidential Memorandum Circular No. 114.
Based on the department’s assessment, electricity consumption fell from 113,560 kWh in February 2026 to 100,720 kWh in March 2026 after the measures were implemented.
The DOLE Central Office recorded a 14.93-percent reduction, equivalent to 11,840 kWh, while nine other offices posted savings of up to 15.68 percent.
The department said lower energy consumption resulted in significant government savings while improving operational efficiency and promoting sustainable practices in public offices.
DOLE said its services remain uninterrupted despite the energy-saving measures. Hotline 1349 continues to operate from Monday to Friday, from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., to assist workers and employers.
The DOLE Central Office also received a perfect score and a five-star rating in the Department of Energy’s energy spot audit conducted in March, the agency said.
