The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) launched immediate pursuit and security operations following an ambush that killed four soldiers in Barangay Liningding, Munai, Lanao del Norte on Friday.
The AFP said troops are intensifying efforts to locate and neutralize the perpetrators, prevent further threats to civilians, and ensure the safety of affected communities.
The attack targeted personnel of Task Unit TABANG under the operational control of the Army’s 2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade. Initial reports said members of a local rebel group were behind the assault.
Four soldiers were killed, while another was wounded. The AFP said the troops were conducting non-combat activities at the time of the attack.
Medical evacuation and reinforcements were immediately carried out, with the wounded soldier now receiving treatment as operations continue to restore peace and security in the area.
