The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) on Wednesday evening confirmed the structural fire incident earlier reported at its Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) office in Baguio’s Engineer’s Hill past 5 p.m.
In a statement, the DPWH said the fire was successfully extinguished, with the site now fully secured.
“Initial assessment by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) indicates that the affected area was limited to approximately two square meters of the office,” the statement read.
“No DPWH employee was injured in the said incident,” it added.
Meanwhile, the DPWH is closely coordinating with the BFP and the Baguio local government to conduct an immediate and thorough investigation into what caused the incident.
Fireout was declared at 5:43 p.m., according to Baguio City Fire Station Fire Marshal F Supt Mark Anthony Dangatan.
