No Filipinos hurt in Iran protests—DFA

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), through the Philippine Embassy in Tehran, reported on Monday that there have been no indications of Filipinos being affected by the ongoing protests in Iran.

In a message sent to reporters, DFA spokesperson Angelica Escalona emphasized that the Philippine Embassy in Tehran continues to advise Filipinos in Iran to remain vigilant and limit their movements.

“As of this writing, there have been no reports of any Filipinos who have been affected in the protests in Iran,” she said.

Escalona also referenced DFA records indicating that there are 823 Filipinos currently in Iran.

“Majority of them are permanent residents – spouses and children of Iranian citizens,” she added.

Demonstrations have occurred in various cities across Iran since December 2025 in response to widespread unrest regarding the Islamic Republic government and ongoing economic challenges.

Countries such as Australia, India and Japan have issued travel alerts, urging their citizens to avoid non-essential trips to Iran amid growing turmoil in the Middle East nation.
