The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) on Friday evening reported a minor phreatomagmatic eruption from the Taal Volcano main crater.
The eruption took place starting at 7:11 p.m. and ceased as of 7:15 p.m., according to the state volcanology bureau.
This event generated a 900-meter plume that drifted southwest, as captured by the thermal camera of the Daang Kastila Observation Station (VTDK) on the northern rim of the main crater.
Meanwhile, a precursory signal preceded the event by almost six minutes as recorded by the Calauit Observation Station (VTCT) on the southeastern Volcano Island.
Phivolcs said that Alert Level 1 (low level of volcanic unrest) prevails over Taal Volcano.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council has since advised Batangas residents to remain alert and to follow advisories from authorities.
