Several areas in the Bicol Region suspended classes for Thursday, January 8, due to the expected heavy rain from the shear line.
The municipality of Tiwi in Albay announced that face-to-face classes at all levels, in both public and private schools, will remain suspended on Thursday.

It cited a weather advisory from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), which predicted rainfall of 50 to 100 mm of rainfall over Albay.
The following Caramines Sur localities also announced class cancellations for Thursday:
- Goa (no face-to-face classes in all levels, public and private)
- Lagonoy (no classes in all levels, public and private)
- Sagñay (no face-to-face classes in Aniog Elementary School, Bolo Elementary School, and Tinorongan National High School)
Finally, the Sorsogon Provincial Information Office announced the extension of suspension of face-to-face classes in all levels in the province until Thursday.
