THE Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) is working with privately owned airlines to develop an awareness policy and guidelines for the proper handling of hazardous dry goods during air travel.
The move aims to improve information-sharing and ensure that travelers are well-informed about regulations concerning hazardous materials, including power banks and other items.
Capt. James Conner, head of the Flight Operations Department (FOD), addressed concerns following recent aviation incidents wherein power banks were suspected of causing onboard fires. He emphasized that these incidents were isolated, but serve as a reminder on the importance of adhering to aviation safety regulations.
Conner reiterated the necessity for passengers to strictly follow the safety protocols set by airlines to prevent similar incidents.
