The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) vowed to sustain ongoing efforts to revitalize the Pasig River, buoyed by the overwhelmingly positive response to the project led by no less than President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos.
Housing Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar reaffirmed the agency’s dedication to the initiative, expressing gratitude to the First Couple for their unwavering support.
“Our effort to revitalize the Pasig River is not just about rehabilitation but about preserving our history and culture for future generations,” said Acuzar. DHSUD leads the Inter-Agency Council for the Pasig River Urban Development with other national and local government agencies.
“DHSUD is deeply grateful for the all-out support of our beloved President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza. You can be assured that we will continue to strive to restore the beauty and vitality of the Pasig River for future generations,” the Housing chief added.

The Pasig River Esplanade, located behind the Manila Central Post Office and extending to Plaza Mexico, was inaugurated in phases in January and June last year.
Recently, the third phase of the ‘Pasig Bigyang Buhay Muli’ project entered its third phase, with President Marcos highlighting the esplanade’s rising popularity, noting its role as a vibrant public space.
The President also commended the Inter-Agency Council for the Pasig River Urban Development for spearheading the transformation of the once-neglected area.
Beyond its appeal on social media, the revitalized riverbanks have become a hub for recreation, community engagement, and small businesses catering to students, tourists, and families. Pasig River likewise showcased its potential as a thriving commercial and cultural space.
