DPWH completes P86.8m flood project

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the construction of a P86.8 million flood project aimed at reducing the adverse effects of high water levels along Bauang River (Ballili River) in Tabangaoen, Municipality of La Trinidad, Benguet.

DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan said the project involves constructing a 712-meter revetment wall, a 266-meter stone masonry structure, and a 54-meter rubble concrete gravity wall to protect nearby communities and establishments from flood damage.

DPWH CAR Director Khadaffy D. Tanggol who is in charge of the project said the project focuses on safeguarding agricultural areas and crucial infrastructure located near the riverbanks by employing durable and effective flood control structures.

Civil works for the project started in February 2024 and were completed in November 2024.

“This project is designed to strengthen the resilience of the local businesses and ensure the safety and livelihood of communities in La Trinidad,”  Tanggol said.
