AFP Western Mindanao has new chief

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Western Mindanao Command (WestMinCom) has installed Maj. Franklyn Daquel as its new chief.

Maj. Gen. Antonio Nafarrete, the WestMinCom chief presided over the change of command ceremony.

Daquel was previously the Deputy Commander of the Office of the Command Inspector General (OCIG).

Expressing his gratitude for the trust given to him, Daquel, in his remarks, acknowledged the new responsibility that was bestowed upon him and promised to do his duty with utmost dedication and passion. “I am grateful for the trust you have given me to lead the Headquarters and Headquarters Company. It is a great responsibility, and I am committed to upholding the highest standard of this unit,” said Maj. Daquel.

“With his experience in handling personnel, without hesitation, I know that he can do his job with excellence. We are confident that under Maj. Daquelâ’s leadership, HHC will continue to thrive and excel in fulfilling its mission,” the general added.

Lt. Col. Leoncio Magpantay, the outgoing chief, meanwhile cited the experiences that shaped his personal and professional facets.

“I am beyond grateful for the unforgettable experiences I have had in WestMinCom. All the ebbs and flows of my military career mold me to becoming the person that was needed by the service, and for that I am eternally grateful,” said Magpantay.

He also gave his confidence and trust to the incoming commander officer, believing fully in his capability to establish a leadership that honors history and kindle growth and development in the organization.
