The Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) kicked off its promotional efforts for its 50th edition with a Grand Media and Fan Con at Quantum Skyview Gateway Mall 2 in Araneta City. The event, which offered a sneak peek into the festival’s much-anticipated entries, brought together filmmakers, cast members, and fans in one venue.
Trailers, behind-the-scenes footage, and promotional materials from the ten official entries were showcased to give audiences a preview of what to expect this holiday season.
The lineup includes The Kingdom, Topakk, Espantaho, And The Breadwinner Is…, Uninvited, Hold Me Close, Green Bones, Strange Frequencies: Taiwan Killer Hospital, Isang Himala, and My Future You.
MMDA and MMFF Overall Concurrent Chairman Attorney Don Artes emphasized the significance of the event in generating public excitement.
“We have seen the trailers and the stories featured in the 50th edition of MMFF. Many notable actors will bring brilliance to the golden edition of our film festival. Let us support the 10 films of MMFF, the Filipino films,” he said, urging audiences to support the festival.
A star-studded lineup graced the event, including Judy Ann Santos, Carlo Aquino, Dennis Trillo, Francine Diaz, Sylvia Sanchez, Mylene Dizon, Eugene Domingo, Gladys Reyes, and Chanda Romero.
The event also fostered audience interaction, with fans engaging directly with producers and cast members. Attendees had opportunities to learn about the film entries, participate in contests, and take photos with their favorite stars.
Producers and directors discussed the themes and challenges behind their films, adding depth to the promotional activities. The festive atmosphere included giveaways and other fan-focused activities, further building excitement for the festival.
The MMFF 50th edition runs from Dec. 25 to Jan. 7 continuing its legacy of celebrating Filipino cinema during the holiday season.
