THE Department of Education (DepEd) has welcomed President Marcos’ directive to grant P20,000 as service recognition incentive (SRI) for public school teachers and non-teaching employees.
The presidential order raised the SRI from P18,000 to P20,000, benefitting an estimated 1,011,800 DepEd personnel.
“We thank President Marcos Jr. for his unparalleled dedication to uplifting the welfare of our teachers and personnel. His genuine concern for education and his heart for our teacher have once again prioritized the needs of those shaping the future of our nation,” Education Secretary Juan Edgardo Angara said.
At the same time, Angara affirmed his commitment to work closely with Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Secretary Amenah Pangandaman to ensure the successful implementation of the increased SRI without losing sight of fiscal policies.
Pangandaman has said the DBM will look into the necessary funding mechanisms to finalize the implementation process and release of funds of the SRI for the DepEd personnel.
“This is a big help to teachers and non-teaching personnel for their preparation for Christmas. This a very good gift from the administration that recognizes the sacrifice and service of our teachers,” Angara said.
