The Philippine Army (PA) outlined its comprehensive six-year International Military Affairs Plan, which aims to strengthen defense partnerships and enhance the organization’s capabilities to address evolving security challenges.
This initiative was discussed during a strategic planning workshop convened by the Office of International Military Affairs.
In his keynote remarks, Army Chief Lt. Gen. Roy M. Galido emphasized the importance of achieving interoperability with partner armies in various operations.
He also urged the Army’s international military affairs planners to enhance humanitarian assistance and disaster response (HADR) efforts alongside its ASEAN counterparts.
The Strategic Roadmap aligns with the guidance provided by Commander-in-Chief President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to the Philippine Army.
In his message during the Army’s Change of Command ceremony last August 2023, he stressed that “the entirety of our Army should enhance its interoperability and communications as well as learn best practices through joint training and exercises, which we intend to expand further.”
The timeline for the six-year Strategic International Military Affairs Plan, covering 2025 to 2031, will focus on the Philippine Army’s participation in bilateral training exercises, activities, and subject matter expert exchanges with partner nations.
