PCSO gifts 90 PTVs on its 90th anniversary

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. presided yesterday over the turnover of 90 Patient Transport Vehicles (PTVs) to beneficiaries during the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office’s (PCSO) 90th anniversary celebration.

In his address, President Marcos emphasized the need to equip local government units (LGUs) with accessible emergency vehicles.

He reiterated to PCSO Chairman Felix Reyes and General Manager Mel Robles his commitment to revitalizing the PCSO’s charity initiatives, particularly by expanding its role in healthcare support.

“From the start, I instructed General Manager Mel Robles to bring the PCSO back to its roots in charity work,” said President Marcos.

“As senator and congressman, I saw firsthand the demand for ambulances from LGUs. It should not be difficult for any town to secure one of these essential vehicles,” he added.

The President reflected on past challenges of securing ambulances, describing how local governments had to rely on connections to access them.

“Regardless of where the need arises, we will send these vehicles. There’s no consideration of political affiliations—only of need,” the President said.

The President also lauded the PCSO’s decision to donate 90 emergency vehicles as the highlight of its anniversary.

He encouraged LGU leaders to maintain the vehicles well, noting that the chosen model offers durability and easy access to parts, making repairs manageable across the country.

“Some of the high-end models we’ve received in the past became unusable when parts became unavailable. This time, we ensured the vehicles are practical and easy to maintain,” he stated.

President Marcos also praised PCSO’s pledge to double its target, aiming to supply LGUs with 200 percent of the needed emergency vehicles

The President urged stakeholders and the public to continue supporting the PCSO’s programs and thanked the agency for its dedication to public service,
