Diplomats extend sympathy, vow aid to ‘Kristine’ victims

The international community expressed deep concern and pledged support Friday for the victims of severe tropical storm ‘Kristine’ in the Philippines, which triggered widespread flooding, landslides, and toppled trees this week.

Among the regions severely affected are Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, and Eastern Visayas.

The US Embassy’s Chargé d’Affaires Robert Ewing assured that the embassy is “closely monitoring the situation” and is actively coordinating with Philippine agencies to assist in the ongoing relief efforts.

Similarly, Australian Ambassador to the Philippines Hae Kyong Yu announced Australia’s readiness to extend aid to communities impacted by the storm across Luzon and Visayas.

Germany, China, and the United Kingdom also expressed solidarity, emphasizing their commitment to stand with the Philippines during this difficult time.

“Deeply saddened for the families and communities affected by #KristinePH. Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with everyone who are experiencing the typhoon’s devastating effects,” the Japan Embassy said in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter).
