POGO ‘kingpin’ may testify in Senate probe

SENATOR Risa Hontiveros has announced they will invite Lin Xunhan, also known as Lyu Dong, the alleged kingpin of Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations (POGO), to the Senate’s next and final hearing on the highly controversial Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO).

The senators are particularly interested in unravelling Lin’s ties to dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo and their involvement in POGO operations.

In an online press briefing, Hontiveros said Lin’s alias was mentioned in a previous hearing and that “now he has been arrested, the story of POGO and his involvement will be revealed.”

Hontiveros commended the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission for capturing Lin Xunhan, also known as “Boss Boga,” on Oct. 10, adding that the arrest was a significant achievement in the fight against POGO.

She also praised the Bureau of Immigration, the Armed Forces of the Philippines Joint Special Operations Group, and its Intelligence Service for their efforts in identifying and apprehending key personalities behind POGO scam hubs.

The senator expressed hopes that other POGO “big bosses” like Duanren Wu, Zhang Jie, and Huang Zhiyang will also be arrested.

The Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations, and Gender Equality, chaired by Hontiveros, has identified Lin Dong and his connection to other key figures behind POGO scams.

Senator Sherwin Gatchalian seconded Hontiveros, stating that the arrest of Lin “marks a big win in our fight against POGO-related social ills.” Gatchalian expected more individuals like Lin Xunhan to be arrested in the coming days.

Lin Xunhan, a Chinese national, has been allegedly operating scam networks in the country for a long time under a false identity.

Gatchalian emphasized the need for constant vigilance and monitoring of cross-border activities involving high-profile individuals and the investigation of Filipino bodyguards and associates linked to Lin Xunhan Lin Xunhan is currently held at the PAOCC Detention Facility for further investigation.

The PAOCC is confident that he will provide leads on other illegal POGO operations in the country.
