The Provincial Government of Leyte will commemorate the 80th Leyte Gulf Landings on Sunday in Palo, Leyte.
According to the local government, various activities have been scheduled for the commemoration, including a reenactment of the historic landing at MacArthur Landing Memorial National Park in Candahug and an exhibit dedicated to veterans in Pawing.
Leyte is allocating P40 million for the renovation of the MacArthur Landing Memorial National Park in Palo town, ahead of the 80th anniversary of the historic landings.
The renovation, which began in August, is expected to be completed before the commemoration, as stated by Leyte Governor Carlos Jericho Petilla.
This marks the first major renovation since the park was improved for the 50th anniversary of the Leyte Landings in 1994.
