Tingog party-list welcomes Caloocan bishop as new cardinal

The House of Representatives led by Tingog party-list group welcomed the elevation of Bishop Pablo Virgilio David of the Diocese of Kalookan as cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church.

“On behalf of the House leadership led by Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez, the TINGOG Party-list, extends its heartfelt congratulations to His Excellency Bishop Pablo Virgilio David of the Diocese of Kalookan on his recent elevation by His Holiness Pope Francis as a Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church.

“This historic recognition not only honors his steadfast commitment to the Church and his tireless service to the faithful but also brings immense pride to the Filipino nation,” Tingog party-list group which nominees are Reps. Yedda Marie K. Romualdez and Jude Acidre said in a statement.

The House leadership said Bishop David’s new role as a Cardinal is a significant milestone in the life of the Roman Catholic Church in the Philippines.  “His leadership as President of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines has been marked by compassion, wisdom, and a deep sense of mission, especially in addressing the needs of the poor and marginalized.

“As a pastor, he has been a beacon of hope and an unwavering voice for truth and justice, particularly during challenging times for our nation,” the Tingog said.

“Beyond his pastoral work, Bishop David is a respected theologian whose insights into the teachings of the Church have greatly enriched our understanding of faith and morality. His scholarly contributions, combined with his pastoral heart, will surely guide the Church and its mission to bring the love of Christ to all.

“As he embarks on this new journey as a Cardinal, we are confident that he will continue to inspire and lead not only the Catholic faithful but the entire Filipino nation. His elevation is a testament to his dedication and the enduring strength of the Church in the Philippines.

“May God continue to bless Cardinal-Designate David with wisdom, courage, and grace as he assumes this esteemed responsibility in service to the Universal Church,” said the House leadership thru Tingog said.
