Apple has released security updates for iOS 18.0.1 and iPadOS 18.0.1 to address critical vulnerabilities in its mobile operating systems.
The updates rectify two significant flaws that could compromise user data, including passwords and audio snippets.
One vulnerability, tracked as CVE-2024-44207, permitted audio messages to capture brief audio snippets before the microphone indicator was activated.
The second flaw, identified as CVE-2024-44204, could allow the VoiceOver feature to inadvertently read aloud saved passwords due to a logic issue.
Apple stated there is no evidence that these vulnerabilities were exploited prior to the release of the patches.
Additionally, the updates resolve issues related to unresponsive touchscreens, camera freezes, and crashes in the Messages app.
These updates follow the launch of iOS 18 less than a month ago, which addressed over 30 security vulnerabilities.
Users are encouraged to download the updates through the Settings app under Software Update.
