PDP-Laban senatorial candidate Raul Lambino on Friday condemned the kidnapping and brutal killing of Filipino-Chinese businessman Anson Que and his driver, describing the incident as “a chilling act of lawlessness.”
Lambino, who also serves as chairman of the Association for Philippines-China Understanding Inc. (APCU), said the case was “not just an isolated crime.”
“Kidnappers are growing bolder – not because they’re fearless, but because they’re still free. Impunity fuels crime,” he said.
“Where is the swift, decisive response we expect from the police when lives are at stake? The people deserve answers. More than that, they deserve action,” he added.
Lambino called on the government to ensure the people behind the abduction and murder of Que and his driver are prosecuted.
“The harsh reality is that when perpetrators face no consequences, they often feel empowered to act again, and more boldly,” he said.
“We demand that the perpetrators – whether common criminals or part of a larger syndicate – be identified, arrested, and prosecuted to the full extent of the law,” Lambino stated.
“We must not allow these acts of violence to go unanswered. We must not surrender our country to lawlessness,” he emphasized.
The bodies of Que and his driver, Armanie Pabillo, were discovered on April 9, dumped along a roadside in Barangay Macabud, Rodriguez, Rizal, days after Que’s family reported him missing on March 30.
Que, 51, owner of Elison Steel in Valenzuela City, was last seen alive on March 29, when he left his office for a meeting.
