Vice President Sara Duterte hinted Wednesday she is willing to reveal the alleged political ‘handler’ of lawmakers who have always been critical of her, claiming that they were laying the groundwork for her impeachment since last year.
In a press conference held at the Office of the Vice President (OVP), Duterte blamed House Deputy Minority Leader and ACT Teachers party-list Rep. France Castro for triggering her ouster plot, but she believes someone else is behind it.
“Since last year, they already had their grounds for impeachment. They are just waiting to have all the pieces they need to back the grounds they have identified… One track is impeachment,” Duterte told reporters.
The Vice President named Castro, former senator Antonio Trillanes IV and Senate Deputy Minority Leader Risa Hontiveros among politicians who are allegedly orchestrating her possible ouster.
“Who is behind them? I know, but I cannot divulge yet. At the proper time, I will disclose everything. Someone will mention the name soon in the hearing, and then I will identify that person. There is only one handler of Risa Hontiveros, Sonny Trillanes, and France Castro,” Duterte said.
The Vice President also claimed that Castro was probably “serving two masters,” but she was working directly with that handler. Both politicians traded barbs during previous congressional hearings in connection with the proposed 2025 budget of the OVP and its confidential funds.
