The Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) on Thursday confirmed the launch of the Long March 3B/E rocket from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in Sichuan, China.
It also reported that the expected debris of the launch is projected to fall within designated drop zones, approximately 55 NM from Patag Island and 68 NM from Rozul Reef.
PhilSA issued a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) regarding the “aerospace flight activity” and shared a pre-launch report with relevant authorities.
“While not projected to fall on land features or inhabited areas, falling debris poses danger and potential risk to ships, aircraft, fishing boats, and other vessels that will pass through the drop zone,” the advisory reads.
“There is also a possibility for the debris to float around the area and wash toward nearby coasts.”
PhilSA advises the public to report any suspected debris to local authorities and warns against approaching or retrieving materials that may contain hazardous substances, such as rocket fuel.
