THE National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) has introduced a new paradigm for peace-building, termed the “Positive Peace” framework.

This approach marks a significant shift, emphasizing a broader perspective on peace beyond traditional security measures.

Undersecretary Ernesto Torres highlighted the need for a more comprehensive strategy that incorporates social, political, cultural, and economic factors.

“As peace builders, we need to acquire new lenses in our collective effort to attain a just and lasting peace, and inclusive development for a united people,” Torres told training participants in Positive Peace.

He stressed that true peace involves not just the absence of conflict but the presence of elements that support a stable society.

The training, led by the Institute for Economics & Peace (IEP) with notable facilitators, aimed to integrate these principles into the NTF-ELCAC’s action plan, fostering a more sustainable and inclusive peace.
