THE Army in Maguindanao del Sur has received 15 high-powered firearms surrendered by concerned civilians over the weekend.

The Army’s Joint Task Force Central, in coordination with the Joint Normalization Committee and other government agencies, received the guns in simple ceremony held at the Talayan municipal complex.

The weaponry included nine M79 Grenade Launchers, three RPG Launchers, two UZI Sub-Machine Guns, one KG-9 Semiautomatic Firearm, as well as magazines and rocket-propelled grenades.

The firearms were presented to Brig. Gen. Oriel Pangcog, 601st Infantry Brigade commander, in the presence of local government officials.
