The chair of the House of Representatives Committee on Appropriations expressed full support for the judiciary’s proposed P82.4-billion budget for 2025, citing the urgent need to address case delays and court congestion that threaten the nation’s justice system.
The panel’s chairperson, Rep. Elizaldy Co of party-list Ako Bicol, recognized the judiciary’s strategic plan for innovations as a crucial step toward resolving these issues.
The plan includes creating a Supreme Court management committee, digitizing judiciary libraries, and adopting new regulations to enhance efficiency.
“The proposed budget will support these initiatives and other reforms aimed at improving leadership, promoting gender-fair language, and upholding human dignity within the judiciary,” Co said.
He urged his fellow legislators to support the budget, emphasizing it as a crucial investment in creating a more efficient, innovative, and accessible justice system for all Filipinos.
