The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is collaborating with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to expedite the repair of potholes and damaged roads in Metro Manila that were caused by the recent floods.

MMDA chairperson Romando Artes expressed his gratitude to the DPWH for promptly implementing asphalt patching in various areas in the metropolis.

The recent heavy rain caused potholes on major roads such as Epifanio de los Santos Avenue, Circumferential Road – 5 (C-5 Road), Roosevelt, Kalayaan Avenue, Shaw Boulevard, Commonwealth Avenue, and Ramon Magsaysay Boulevard.

The asphalt patching activities are part of DPWH’s maintenance operations aimed at preventing road accidents caused by potholes. The department’s maintenance crew is working to restore the damaged roads.

Since September 6, the agency has been deploying maintenance crews to repair roads damaged by monsoon rains and storm ‘Enteng.’

The presence of potholes on several major thoroughfares in the metropolis poses a danger to motorists and commuters.
